European History
Hyundai in Europe
Business with HME

Europe. Classic, modern. At all times a melting pot of cultures.

A tour through Europe has inspired many designers to create masterpieces of contemporary design. And that’s why we established one of our most important design centers in the heart of the European continent.

In the late 1990s, the EURO 1 concept car already indicated that an appealing European design would be very influential in further enhancing Hyundai’s strong global presence.

Creating emotions, proving that it is sharing consumers’ passion for state-of-the-art vehicles, the European Design Center also had its share in developing some of Hyundai’s best-selling vehicles, the Hyundai Coupe, the Matrix mini-van and the Getz super-mini. The small-size European style Tucson SUV also features a distinct European look and feel.

And with the CCS glass-fold-top convertible study, the E³ future compact car, and the super-low-emission diesel Getz our European designers have demonstrated their ability to develop concepts that look ahead, while at the same time staying focused on real-life practicability.

Working at the HME building complex in Rüsselsheim, Germany more than 27 designers are tailoring Hyundai models that match European market demand.
